Hear me out.
As of this morning, there are a little over 60 days left until we ring in 2018.
“But seriously, can we get through Halloween before we start talking about the holiday season?”
Absolutely, but what’s on my mind isn’t about kisses at midnight (though those are always welcome) or champagne (also, always welcome) or singing Auld Lang Syne – but rather doing a little prep work to do everything possible to begin with a clean slate.
2017 has been turbulent, to say the least. There have been so many disasters, tragedies, and distractions that I know I have been feeling out of sorts and a bit discombobulated.
So I made a list.
It’s a list of things I want to accomplish by the end of the year.
It started out as a bit of a plan:
- Run 3x a week
- Stretch 2x a week
- Lose 10 more pounds
- Drink yo damned water!
Then it evolved.
I started adding in little projects I had put off for a long time. Mostly trivial things, but still tasks that I wanted to do and get off my plate.
- Organize pantry
- Clean makeup brushes
- File the stack of papers on my desk
- Organize my hard drives
The list only included things I could realistically accomplish before the end of the year. I managed to knock two of them off this weekend.
This list is not only giving me a few things to aim for over the next new months, it is helping me focus on a few things rather than continuing on with my mind being so chaotic.
Marking things off is making me feel a little more in control and peaceful. I like that feeling in what has been a roller coaster of a year.
Consider making your own list – include some “bigger” goals you want to achieve by end of the year, and smaller things that you may have been putting off. Feel free to share some of your goals in the comments – might give me a few more ideas!
I know I am looking forward to starting 2018 off as best as I’m able and am happy that I gave myself this early holiday gift.
